The Durango Youth Soccer Association (DYSA) is a non-profit and educational organization whose mission is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of Durango's area youth through the sport of soccer.

Preseason Performance Enhancement - Reserve a slot!

We have an excellent opportunity this winter to provide sport-specific preseason performance enhancement for the DYSA soccer players. One of the most positive aspects will be the fact that the sessions will be held on grass-like artificial turf in the Stillwater Foundation’s brand new indoor turf facility (at its new location at 144 Bodo Drive #3). This means the athletes can train on a realistic soccer surface in their cleats which will enhance adaptation to the footwear they will use all season and improve their touch on the ball with the same. And weather will not be a factor! The intention of the sessions is to combine and incorporate the functional / physical components of the sport with some technical aspects of soccer skills into one format. Specifically, we will focus on:

-BALANCE

-COORDINATION

-SPEED

-AGILITY

-POWER

-STRENGTH

-CORE EXERCISES

-CARDIO / CONDITIONING

-JUGGLING

-DRIBBLING

-PASSING AND RECEIVING

-FLEXIBILITY
The sessions will run from 5:45p.m. to 6:45p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning February 6^th. There will be a total of 12 sessions with the final session running on March 14^th. They will be run and coordinated by Tory Aggeler, ATC, PES (and DYSA coach) and will only cost $5 per athlete or $50 if the athlete pays in advance. The cost is to offset the facility usage fees. These performance enhancing sessions are appropriate for ages 10 and up BUT WILL BE LIMITED TO 40 PLAYERS in order to maximize safety and options. Payments can be made on site but a slot must be reserved in advance by e-mailing your request to aggelerjr [at] gmail [dot] com. All questions may also be directed to the same e-mail.

U14 Girls En Fuego Hold Bake Sale for Project Merry Christmas

Durango, CO - As part of the G.O.A.L. (Go Out And Lead) program the Durango Youth Soccer Association U14 Girls En Fuego, coached by Bree Baker, Cassie Seaney and Joe Casey, raised $260 through a bake sale at Miller Middle School to buy gifts and gift cards for the families registered through Project Merry Christmas. The girls purchased additional gifts specifically for teenage recipients. In addition, the team is donating canned goods, other non-perishables, blankets, boots, coats, etc. to the homeless shelter. Items will be dropped off this week.

U10 Chaos Volunteer at the Bloomer Sale

Durango, CO - The Colorado Chaos boys U10 team volunteered at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Bloomer Sale in November. The sale benfits United Way, Volunteers of America and Civitan International. Twelve boys volunteered for five hours carrying boxes to vehicles and passing out chocolate samples (yummy!). Not only did the boys help the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, but they learned great skills: how to approach a customer and ask if they need help carrying their boxes; how to be a spokesperson for their soccer team, DYSA, and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory sponsorship of DYSA; and what organization to donate "tips" they made during the volunteer hours. (Yes, people actually tipped the boys for carrying their boxes.) The boys made $65.00 that they voted to donate to Adaptive Sports. This was a great volunteer project and surely they will want to do it again! Thank you to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and the Colorado Chaos boys!

Victory Parade to Celebrate FLC Men's Soccer

Victory parade, autograph party planned for national championship team

Route takes Skyhawks on Main Ave. from College Dr. to Irish Embassy Pub

DURANGO, Colo. — A victory parade for the NCAA Division II national champion Fort Lewis College men’s soccer team is scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 9) on Main Ave. in downtown Durango from College Dr. to 9th St.

Following the short parade, the Skyhawk players and coaches will hold an autograph party upstairs in the Irish Embassy Pub, located on the northeast corner of Main and 9th. Free, national championship posters will be available. The autograph party is open to fans of all ages.

Fort Lewis (24-1-0 overall) won its third NCAA-II championship in men’s soccer last Saturday, defeating Lynn (Fla.) 3-2 in overtime.

The Skyhawks previously won NCAA-II national titles in 2005 and 2009 and were national runners-up in 1999 and 2006.
