The Gunners 2008/2009 Season!

Happy Spring, Gunners!

Hey look -- our own team webpage!!!  Cool, huh?! Now we'll just get to discover whether this cool new tool that DYSA is making available for us is helpful to you, the Team members!

PRACTICE:

We start practice next week, as you saw in the schedule forward.  We have the same time and place slot as in the Fall,Tues/Thurs 5:30-6:45 at Escalante.  As per Tebby's letter, we have this Spring season to look forward to Bree joining us as our Trainer!

*** Please make note that there will not be practice over spring break, the week of March 30th.

A reminder of what players should bring to practice:  everyone should have a soccer ball, shin guards, cleats, full water bottle and a sweatshirt for unpredictably cold or suddenly rainy weather.

TOURNAMENTS:

We decided on participating in two this season. Please mark the dates in your calenders, and let us know immediately if your player will be unable to attend.  More information will be forthcoming.

Durango Shoot Out: May 8,9,10th

Grand Junction Invitational: May 16,17th

GAMES:

Kate has said she will try to have game schedules out to us next week. I will post the schedules on this website, and let you know when it's up. You can mark the first game weekend: April 11th, and the final weekend, May17th--the Grand Junction Tournament.

BUDGET:

I have updated our Team Budget, to include the additional Tournament, as well as the travel costs for our Trainer, who has expressed a strong interest in participating when she can.  I will have hardcopies of the spreadsheet available at our first practice (since my spreadsheet program was un-openable by so many of you this fall).  I am happy to review the data with any and all who are interested.

Our contribution to Team expenses this Spring will be $70 per child. Please come to the first practice with a check, made out to Maxine Christopher; or let me know when you plan to make payment.

BEYOND SPRING SOCCER: Kate informed me that she is planning to keep the teams the same for next fall. The only reason she will make changes is if current players decide not to come back next fall and the numbers get weird.

Skyhawks Academy Camp;  If you are wanting to participate, we will be signing up as a team for the July 13th program, which is the designated session for the U11 players.  Signing up as a team of 10 or more players will enable us to receive a significant discount per player, so please consider this great skills-building camp for your player, and let me know ASAP, so I can put together a Team Registration.  If you need the Academy info, go to www.GoSkyhawks.com, and look it up under "Summer Camps".

That's alot, and I think that covers it!
