Terms:
- The Director of Coaching (DOC) position is a contracted position with a term of one (1) year.
The term begins on December 1 and runs through July 31. This position may or may not be renewed at the end of the term
at the discretion of the DRSC Executive Committee.
Governance and Reporting:
The Director of Coaching reports to the Executive Director. The ED will be the DOC’s primary point of contact for matters pertaining to his or her general position requirements, bi-annual evaluations, priorities etc.
Stipulations:
- The DOC cannot have a professional affiliation with any other soccer club
- The DOC must disclose all outside affiliations and/or conflicts of interest that may exist with the DRSC
Director of Coaching Expectations and Responsibilities:
Durango Rapids Soccer Club Director of Coaching is responsible for cultivating a love of the game, and to provide an environment that creates positive culture and promotes player development. The Director will be responsible for providing a consistency for the overall soccer experience for players, coaches, and parents that align with the DRSC’s mission and vision.
- Support Executive Director & Director of Operations with monitoring coach requirements (CPR, Double goal coach, concussion training, coach licensing, Safesport)
- Implement age specific coaching curriculum for age group
- Send out weekly curriculum to coaches in age group
- Maintain regular interaction with coaches, managers, players, and parents
- Respond to concerns from coaches, managers, players and parents in a timely manner
- Holds coaches accountable for running well-planned, age appropriate training sessions and modeling club consistency/philosophy
- Weekly, in person, on field visits to all teams in age group
- Hold On/Off field evaluations of coaches to assist in coach feedback and development
- Implement a player evaluation process to provide appropriate periodic feedback
- Hold Players accountable for club protocol (training uniforms, behaviors, training expectations, meeting age group standards)
- Attend team meetings for age group
- Run preseason meetings with all coaches
Additional Duties:
- Assists Executive Director with coach recruitment
- Assist Executive Director with structuring teams and assigning coaches
- Assist Executive Director with administering extra programs (Intro to DYSA, FAST,TOPSoccer, GOAL, Age Group Trainings )
- Assist Executive Director with additional Player Development
- Assist Executive Director with additional Club Development
- Assist Executive Director with organizing and running tryouts
- Support Tournament Directors with the Durango Shootout Soccer Tournament
- Attend various meetings where needed to provide expertise on soccer related matters
- Assist on disciplinary action regarding trainers, coaches, parents and players
- Attends monthly board meetings and delivers monthly reports of assigned age group
